ISIS // BIRTH STORY

I arrived in San Francisco on Sunday. Amy had been having braxton hicks contractions since that morning. It was so exciting! I really thought that I might have gotten there just in time! However, baby Isis decided to take her sweet time. Monday and Tuesday passed, and Amy's contractions were continually getting more intense. On Tuesday night, Amy's cousin and brother came over to visit. At this point, Amy's contractions were so strong that she didn't really feel like talking to people while they were happening. So Ryan and I dared each other to eat the gross Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans to keep us entertained. Amy left the room, and we all thought she was just going to lie down on her bed. We didn't find out until much later that our talk of booger, vomit, sardine, etc flavored jelly beans were making her nauseous. Oops! Sorry Amy! A few minutes later, her contractions were so close together and so long that it was definitely time to go into the hospital. Unfortunately, her hospital was full. So we had to go to San Francisco General Hospital. Here is the chronological story in pictures.

Moving into the delivery room.

Amy had contractions all through the night.

We were all pretty exhausted.

The only thing that helped during her contractions was pressure on her hips.

Time to PUSH!

Tears of joy. Isis was the perfect baby.

Happy Parents!

Daddy Donald.

Isis was born at 2:10 pm on Wednesday May 1, 2013. She was 6 pounds 14 ounces, 20 inches long. This was the hardest photography assignment I have ever had, but also one of the most rewarding. What a beautiful day. I can't even put into words how amazing babies are. Just like that, Donald and Amy became parents. And we got to welcome a perfect new baby girl into the world.
